Chapter Projects
The Baton Rouge Chapter, NSDAR, has a distinguished record of patriotic service, education, and historic preservation. Below are selected representative projects.
- Memorial Day — Flags at Port Hudson Chapter members place flags each Memorial Day at Port Hudson National Cemetery in honor of American veterans.
- Constitution Week Displays Public educational exhibits presented annually during Constitution Week, including library installations and awareness programs.
- Literacy & Book Donation Initiatives Thousands of books collected and distributed to schools, literacy programs, and community shelters through chapter and District V efforts.
- Project Patriot Donations and support delivered to active-duty military families, including comfort items for servicemembers at Fort Polk.
- Magnolia Care Center Outreach Gifts, holiday baskets, and personal-care items prepared and delivered to residents in need.
- Vietnam Veterans Memorial — Port Hudson National Cemetery (Dedicated May 4, 2019) Chapter project in partnership with Port Hudson National Cemetery honoring Vietnam Veterans through a permanent memorial, funded through member and community contributions.
- Educational Outreach & Scholarships Promotion of American history education, student awards, Good Citizen recognition, and scholarship opportunities.
- Patriotic Commemoration Annual participation in Wreaths Across America and ceremonies honoring military and historic anniversaries important to our nation.
